Okami Australia Review
We have collected some of the most popular Okami Australia Outlets Review:

The waiters look tired, avoid eye contact, and there's not enough of them. Food seems to be internationally slow to save costs.
The food quality is quite nice for a typical "buffet". The portions are small to avoid food wastage.
For $40, I think it's borderline reasonable. In my opinion, they need to start raising prices to at least $50, reduce eating time to 90 minutes, BUT serve dishes much faster.
I don't recommend Okami if you're a big eater or come large groups.
The Okami seems to be better at the Silverwater venue and I don't think I'll be coming back to Marrickville. Sorry.
The ordering system is great which allow us to order individually.
Service is good and very helpful.
Katsu chicken
Katsu udon curry
Seaweed
Food was fresh, came out hot. Well done
The foods are terrible. I could hand pick the one which are okay, such as Chicken Karaage (the batter is light and crispy), Beef Carpaccio (nice beef and ponzu with salad combination), and wakame salad (taste simply amazing). The rest is just AYCE trap.
Sushi (nigiri and roll) is jam packed with rice without any concern of filling whatsoever. It feels like, "Hey, you order it so you must finish it or we will charge you, even though it's just mostly rice and taste bad!" And you can't order sashimi without having all the terrible nigiri and roll. The tamagoyaki simply terrible, huge chance not made in house. Ebi still got veins and taste bland. Tuna feels frozen and watery. And all the roll basically just cucumber filling.
This pattern continues to other dishes, such as curry udon with lots of udon and a couple piece of katsu. Huge portion of fried rice. Bland Miso Soup. Overcooked beef yakiniku. The steak actually okay. The spicy ika is simply squid imitation cake, not a real squid. The tempura batter is dense and the sauce is bland. Takoyaki mostly just batter. The croquette is nice, but just potato without anything added. The agedashi tofu surprisingly okay with soft silken tofu.
The dessert was just okay. The sesame ice cream feels heavy and a bit rancid. The taiyaki feels like frozen product with adzuki filling and fried, nothing special.
The service is slow. Your order may come 10 minutes after you order it. And when you were hungry with empty table you got tendency to order more than what you need.
Overall, even though it's understandable it's an AYCE business which aiming to get as much profit as possible with as low as possible food cost, it simply feels terrible. There is no love for the food, especially the sushi. Yes, it is filling, but not satisfying. You can have your money worth better elsewhere, but not here. But, surprisingly all other people seems happy to dine here, maybe my standard is simply too high.
The service is good considering the waitresses need to handle so much food. But almost every single dish was disappointing.
The Miso steak was cold, the tofu and Miso soup bland, the sushi rolls fell apart and tasted old, and the Beef Carpaccio was overly salty.
The Karage Chicken and the Eggplant were great though.
That being said, we won't be in a rush to return. Everything just felt very amateurish.
Also ordered the Japanese plum and yuzu. Both drinks were tasted extremely diluted and reminded us of tea and solo 🧐
Positive
The food was very enjoyable. Flavours were subtle, and meat was tender and succulant. Service was good with plenty of waitress' to take ofders and deliver food.
A friend advised that you dont want massive lulls whilst waiting for food to be delivered so we ordered big to begin with choosing about a quarter of the menu to start with then every time they cleared a plate we would order a few more dishes we hadn't tried and more of the ones we liked. This worked well, and we had a constant stream of food.
We particularly enjoyed the Miso steak and Terryaki steak, the sashimi and sushi, beef capaccio, tempura prawns and vegetable, chicken Karaage.
It was all pretty good, and we left more than content, having had an enjoyable dinner at a price that you feel you got value for money.
Access is wheelchair friendly.
Parking is easy with a multitude of side streets to choose from.
Negative
If I had to pick something, it would be curry chicken katsu udon. I love curry, but it was jarring against all other flavours. Minimal chicken, but then all this noodle which you didn't want to devour with all the other options on offer.
My friend was amazed that they didn't have rice there first to accompany dishes. He had been to Japan and had to ask where rice was? As dishes had all come first.

Service is slightly slow at times due to rush hour but that gives us time to digest and plan for more items
Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly and seated promptly, appreciating the inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. However, as I began to peruse the menu and place my order, the sense of care and attention seemed to diminish.
The food arrived quickly, almost too quickly, giving the impression that it had been hastily prepared. This rushed service detracted from the dining experience, as I felt the dishes lacked the finesse and attention to detail that one would expect from a Japanese restaurant.
Furthermore, the presentation of the food left much to be desired. Plates were hastily arranged, with little thought given to aesthetics or visual appeal. This lack of care in presentation detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Additionally, the flavors of the dishes seemed muted and uninspired. While the ingredients were fresh, the execution fell short of expectations. It felt as though the kitchen was more concerned with speed than with delivering a memorable culinary experience.
Despite these shortcomings, the staff remained polite and accommodating throughout the meal. However, the rushed and impersonal nature of the food service overshadowed their efforts.
In conclusion, my overall experience at Okami was mediocre at best. While the restaurant showed promise in terms of ambiance and initial service, the rushed and lackluster food presentation and flavor left much to be desired. For a more authentic and satisfying Japanese dining experience, I would seek out other options in the future.
I checked pictures of here on the reviews but I never saw plates like them.
We were very satisfied at the other branch, but we will not come back here
FYI. It was 4th of May
Order and eat as much as you like within a 2-hour seating.
Sushi, sashimi, teriyaki beef, takoyaki, gyoza, noodles, ice cream and more. 🍖 🥟 🍦
I recommend placing orders as early as possible to start the buffet.
Drinks are not included in the buffet price.
